Getting active shouldn’t take more planning than the workout itself.

MoveIt explores how phone and smartwatch can work together to make starting, completing and tracking a workout feel more immediate.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

One connected fitness experience, designed for two different moments.

MoveIt is a cross-device fitness product that connects smartphone and smartwatch interactions into one system. The watch supports quick, glanceable actions during activity, while the phone provides deeper guidance, workout discovery and long-term progress tracking.

THE CHALLENGE

Staying active shouldn’t require more time and attention.

Busy professionals want to exercise consistently and track their health, but demanding schedules leave little room for complex fitness experiences. MoveIt needed to address three key challenges: limited time, reduced attention and continuity between smartphone and smartwatch.

The opportunity was to create an experience that makes it easier to move from deciding to exercise to actually starting, while still supporting guidance and progress tracking.

Designed for movement in the gaps of a busy day.

MoveIt supports people who want to stay active without making fitness another complicated part of their schedule.

DESIGNING FOR THE CONTEXT

The experience focuses on small opportunities to move throughout the day. Instead of long planning or complex fitness features, MoveIt makes the next action quick and clear.

The smartwatch handles reminders and glanceable activity, while the phone supports workout discovery, guidance and progress.

REMIND → CHECK → CHOOSE → TRAIN → REVIEW

TWO DEVICES
ONE EXPERIENCE

01.  IN THE MOMENT

The smartwatch supports quick interaction when attention is limited — reminders, glanceable live metrics and immediate actions.

02. DEEPER ENGAGEMENT

The phone provides more space for workout discovery, detailed guidance and reviewing progress.

03. CONNECTED EXPERIENCE

Both devices stay synchronized, allowing users to move naturally between quick actions and deeper interaction without unnecessary duplication.

BUILDING THE CROSS-DEVICE EXPERIENCE

One journey, moving naturally between devices.

Rather than duplicating the same experience across both devices, I assigned each interaction to the device that best supports that moment.

The watch handles prompts, quick health checks and live metrics, while the phone supports workout selection, detailed guidance and progress review. Automatic syncing keeps the journey connected as users move between them.

Design principle: Continuity without duplication.

DEVELOPING THE EXPERIENCE

From rough structure to a shared visual system.

I developed the mobile and smartwatch experiences in parallel, moving from early sketches and wireframes to refined interfaces. I focused on clearer hierarchy, larger actions and a consistent visual language, while adapting the amount of information and interaction to each screen size.

The guiding principle was: same system, different levels of attention.

FINAL EXPERIENCE

One connected system, designed for different levels of attention.

The smartwatch keeps interactions quick and glanceable, while the mobile app provides deeper guidance and progress tracking. Both stay synchronized to create one continuous experience.

OUTCOME & REFLECTION

Designing across devices changed how I thought about interaction — not every screen needs to do everything.

MoveIt showed me how the watch can support immediate, glanceable actions while the phone handles deeper exploration, creating one connected experience rather than duplicating the same functions across devices.

Going forward, I would test the experience in real contexts, validate device handoffs and further refine the smartwatch interface.

Key takeaway: Good cross-device design is about deciding where each interaction belongs.
